Hello I have an aquarium steel stand i bought used the screws were rusted as well as the bolts. I decided to try n replace them. I tried out the stainless steel ones from menards lead to too many issues with the nuts getting stuck once i placed the screws through. I need to find an alternative to the prior screws. Anyone know where I can find these?

Fastenal is a one-stop-shop when it comes to that sort of hardware.

Bring in the nuts and bolts you want to replace and ask for stainless versions of the exact same bolt. Stainless comes in different grades, but in your case anything should work. But if you want to go over the top, go with titanium!

I wouldn't worry too much about strength because that size bolt is going to be super strong regardless. Tell the guy you are looking for corrosion resistance in a salty/wet environment, they should have or can quickly get exactly what you want.

Either way, if you notice your stainless "rusting" it is more likely that it was contaminated by rubbed against a softer metal (e.g. picked it up from a wrench or from the stand itself). It likely isn't the stainless rusting, but whatever it rubbed against and contaminated by another metal. It will buff off with a little Barkeepers Friend and elbow grease.

Totally agree. You'll likely end up with 300 series stainless which isn't near as strong asn tempered steel but will be more than strong enought by a few factor. 300 will be some of the most affordable corrosion resistant hardware.
