Shark Tank - Yes I said SHARK TANK!

When I lived in Florida, I had a beautiful shark tank that had black tip reef sharks. So, before I came up here, I had to get rid of them, and gave them to a friend of mine that works at an aquarium. Now I have realized, I really miss my sharks….. SO, I decided to get some sharks again!! This is my 125 shark tank build. THESE SHARKS ARE JUVENILES, AND I KNOW WHAT I’M DOING! So, please don’t say “That’s too small of a tank for them!!” These guys will be transferred into a bigger tank by next summer/fall which will be a 10 foot tank that will have the ends bowed, so there are no corners! Basically a 400+ gallon oval shaped tank! :)
The only sharks that are currently in this tank are an Epaulette and a Coral Cat. I do not have to worry about them bumping into corners, as they are not constantly swimming, and the Epaulette doesn’t really swim but walks…. Kinda fun watchin’ him move around LOL

So, here it goes! (Still need to put paneling, wood trim, stain/paint, etc.)

Built the stand –

After I put the tank on the stand, I realized the edge of the tank was TOO close to the inside edge, so I added additional 2x4's to the top of the stand, instead of placing a piece of plywood on top, for added support.

Got canopy built, lights mounted and placed on top!

Tank is filled - (rock scape has been changed a little bit, and will be changed once more to its final look)

Wet/Dry filteration system - (Used to be another 40br sump, but decided to change it out)

After 2-3 months letting the tank cycle properly, and allowing the bacteria to grow on the bio-balls, I was finally able to add fishies.

Nice dude!!! Been wanting to do a shark tank but need to find a 180/220 -il definitely be watching yours!

A switch between silversides, krill, and squid (This way they won't get bored with the same food - I feed them every other day until they get bigger, then it will be every 3-4 days depending on size.

So, I figured I would put a basic design of what I'm going to possibly have by next summer for these guys (This is still in the works but the dimensions are pretty much spot on!!)
10 feet long x 4 feet wide x 2 feet tall - will have cylinder overflows on both end of the tank for good flow

I put doors on both sides of the tank, instead of just the one, so I would have full access to the system –

TIME TO PRIME AND PAINT!!!

Got the primer done –

The epaulette, naso tang, and vlamingi tang began getting curious at what was going on HAHA

PAINT IS DONE!!!

Going to wait another day or two for the paint to really cure, so it doesn’t stick when I close the canopy and put the doors in place.

This is awesome!! I love that you are doing an all sharks tank.

Can I ask you how long does it take for your sharks to outgrow your tank? The reason I wonder is because we have a 210 and are thinking about hatching a shark egg in there... just curious on how long it will be before I have to find a new home for the shark? Also, do you know what percentage of the tank bottom should be sand bed? would 50% sand bed 50% rock be okay you think? Our tank measurements are 72" long by 24" wide.
