So after months of searching, I lucked out and found a small midas blenny at Old Town Aquarium on Wednesday. The little guy was just put in their display and scared, so I didnt get to examine him too well. I took him home, and did an hour and a half drip acclimation. He was pretty frightened, dove for the cave I made him and remained there all night breathing hard.
Thursday he pretty much stayed in his hole, popping his head out. I noticed that he was still breathing hard and occasionally nodding his head back in a gasping motion? He was dark in color so I figured he was still scared and adjusting. I did feed brine shrimp, and he gulped a few as they flew by him.
Today, Friday, he's finally coming out to check out the place. I fed flake food. He gobbled it up, then spit up everything he ate. I noticed that he has a tiny tiny red dot (pinhead) on his lower body and possibly a little redness near his tail. Its hard to get a picture or examine in detail since he is a little skiddish yet. His breathing has slowed, but he still occasionally is doing the gasping/nodding thing.
I checked my water parameters, they are fine. I rearranged pumps for more surface agitation. Not sure what else to do. This poor guy have something?
