Skimmer/Filtration input

Hi all, so I just got my tank up and running but the equipment I have for filtration from my 150g is way too large for my 40 cube. One thing I say you just have to have in our tank is a skimmer but again mine is way too large and my tank isn't drilled nor do I want to with this tank so do you guys recommend a SMALL decent HOB skimmer?

Second I was thinking of putting something like those penguin power filters, one because they have the built in pumps so no need to put anything into the tank then to utilize it as a small gium and put some chaeto or something similar.

Goal here is to add these two types of filtration without having to drill/add full sump and not have tons of equipment in tank because of no sump where I would usually be putting all this stuff into.

Input please or if you have a better idea please share.

What kind of skimmer do you have now? Also I believe jsanchez has a reef octopus bh 100 for sale

ANARCHY

SuperReef Octopus 2000.

Ill look for that member and see and that was actually one of the skimmers I was looking into too. Thanks.

^I was actually mistaken it was the 1000 also because it has a external pump. Well hopefully someone locally has a ideal one if not I'll order one.

So what about the refugium idea?

I have an reef octopus hb rated for 125g on my with deb and cheato on my 46 bow. It has worked for years. Clam is still happy as a clam.

Yea so I sorted out a refugium and possibly a skimmer setup combined with my mech/bio filtration I hope to be a good enough set up. First small tank and man do I miss having a large sump...

What are your thoughts on the model 2 Marineland sump? Basically would want it for a refugium and put my skimmer/heater in.
