Time to update equipment question?

Hey Mai,

The first thing you need to do is write down what equipment you want to control, and how many plugs that will take.

If you're going to want to control lighting, ATO, etc. just go with the full model. It comes with 8 outlets, and plenty of inputs for controlling lighting, ATO, heaters, etc.

The bad part about going with the lite or jr models is that you will have to add to them in order to get additional functionality.

This is the full model on their website: http://www.neptunesystems.com/products/apex-controllers/apex-controller-system/

If you decide to get one, stop at Sho Tank. Matt can order one for you if you don't mind waiting a week or two.

Here is the neptune forum, everything you could ever possibly want to do is in here, described in detail: http://forum.neptunesystems.com

I have two of the full models on my tanks, and never have to mess with either of them aside from calibrating the PH probes.

Thanks Dom, will read it.

Hey Mai, Apex will be at beyond the Reef on Wednesday 12 to 5. You can check out their stuff and you get freebies with purchase.

Definitely go with the full APEX, even if you dont use all the features its nice having it when you do. I ran into that. My best advice is to buy it new if possible. I saved a bunch buying used only to have to pay for one major repair out of warranty. Not that their customer service is bad (they're excellent to say the least), but its the price i had to pay for trying to be cheap.

Can an Apex handle this load?
1 400 watt mh
1 400 watt mh
1 skimmer
1 main pump
1 wave maker pump controlled
1 wave maker pump controlled
1 wave maker pump
1 heater

Few feet away on different circuit

It should be able to but you'll need a second energy bar to control the second group.

I would pose that question on the neptune forum because the experts on there would be able to describe it in more detail than I could.
