Vortech MP10

Hello!

My Jebao WP-10 just crapped out on me, and after consideration I decided to just bite the bullet and spend the money on better quality. Now my question is, should I go for a new one, or scour the forum and get a used one? I know the obvious answer is to buy a new one, but is there anything wrong in buying a used one in good condition? What are some things I should look for in an used MP10?

Thanks for you advices.

If money is not a deal breaker, buy the qd version. Or buy an older one and upgrade driver and wetside if you can get the older one at a good price. I upgraded a 40 and bought also a new one and they are much quieter.

The bearings in the dry side can get loud in used ones, as well at the ceramic shafts develop cracks and rush, and lastly the propellers wear from snail shells. I've replaced bearings in one of mine and always replace worn stuff when I buy them. I've had 3 used ones (replaced all worn parts) on my tank for a couple years without problems. Overall if you're handy and don't mind taking the rick of having to spend more on parts than you tought, used is an ok way to go. I agree with fredfish13, if money isn't a big deal, go with the new QD and get more power and a warranty.

I know you aren't happy with the jebao, but if you have a Neptune apex give a serious look at the rw series pump and apex adapter. It does an incredible job with random flow.
