I was wondering what everyone thinks about a wavemaker?

I was thinking about adding one to my 90 gallon mixed reef.....Do not get me wrong everything is doing very well in my tank right now and I do not want to cause a stir.....Pun is intended!

Opinions, Suggestions, remarks, rumors, comments, scuttlebut....

A friend of mine who knows robotics is working on building a SeaSweep (google it, it's cool but not worth $300) which if he can get it right, might be making them en mass and I can get them to you guys. I like my wavemaker with my jbj but I got it used and at a steal, I could never buy one outright. If you have a controller then it's doable because you can program it yourself instead of buying another $200 piece of equipment.

I am using a Neptune Apex Jr to run my Apollo LEDs.
So, I guess if I buy the 8 outlet busbar I could just program the powerheads to act as a wavemaker??? Not a bad idea....

Greg, I wish I could afford the vortechs but, I will wait until they are more realistically priced...$285.00 for one powerhead is just not in the cards for me...

Yes, you can easily program your pumps right now into a wave maker. And I agree, vortices are awesome but I am so not willing to pay that much for it....

VORTECH'S are the best! Pricey yea but so worth it! Flexible and the programming is top notch. Definitly one of the best investments I made for my aquarium.

I think vortechs are very reasonably priced for what you get.
I doubt the price will go down much, especially since people continue to buy them for retail price.

You guys don't find Vortechs to be loud?

My mp10 is the least noisy powered piece of equipment I have (after a heater I guess)
Keeping the heat outside the glass is worth a little humming to me.

I've said I didn't need a 2nd vortech, but I'm about ready to buy #2 so I can turn down them both down around 50%. My single mp40 at 80% is a bit noisy.
A while back when my tank was just lps and softies, I used a JBJ Ocean Pulse wavemaker. It is affordable and does the trick if you don't want to spend the dough for a vortech.
