Was debating either getting the carbon filter pads or get the carbon media .. Was wonder what is a good brand to get for carbon? For now im using the petco brand.. just got it due to the fact that it was cheap.. Was thnking of getting the seachem sea gel.. Let me knw ok..

Sea Gel is Carbon and GFO (chemipure elite). I just switched to Brightwell Pelletized from BRS ROX and noticed no difference. They seem to be very comparable and BRS ROX is generally considered the top of the line.

I'm using the BRS Rox 0.8 in a reactor. Works so awesome. 5 tablespoons is all I need for 3-4 weeks with 60 gallons of water until it blinds up.

i was thnking of putting some in a bag and floating it like what ur doing on ur 5 gallon ted. would the BRS ROX work like that..

No carbon will work as efficiently in a bag as it will run as a block in a reactor. As far as efficiency thou, I believe you want to use a lignite carbon in a bag due to its larger pore structure for free flowing water to pass thru. The Rox 0.8 has a VERY FINE pore structure. Lignite also will work best in a bag as it will create a lot of dust if it were to start tumbling in a reactor, where in a bag, it is pretty much just sitting in a sump or whatever and not doing a whole lot of moving around.

oh ok.. i was thnking of placing the bag in chamber three.. just having it float.. do they sell the ignite in BRS?

hmm.. i guess i might get one. I really need it to help with the filtration... was saving for a vortech mpwes10.lol i'll hold off for now.lol
