Any experience with a copper banded butterfly??

After doing my research on this guy I am a bit torn... with a 220 gallon tank I'm reasonably sure he and my yellow tang will be able to find their own territories...but when it comes to eating and how finicky they can be it has me a bit worried...plus the consensus that I have found is that they're 50/50 on reef safe...

So has anyone had any experience with this fish?? Any thoughts on this fish?? or anything at all???

Thanks,

Scott

I see them in reef tanks all the time, so if they were a problem, i don't think they would be in there. I always think when you read a fish is 50/50, Its more like 80/20. i think you'll be fine as long as he isn't starving all the time.

I have had them in reef systems before . They will eat feather dusters and aptias. Very difficult to keep long term. I have and had other fish such as Powder Blue and Coral Beauty Angelfish for 8 years and Copperbands dont even come close.

Thanks everyone! Anyone had one with a yellow tang? I've read that since yellow tangs are kinda a-holes and that the colors/bodies are similar the yellow tang would have a field day picking on the butterfly...and since the butterfly is a fragile(ish) fish its not good....

New little buddy

After the input I received here and the a bit I got from a couple local buddies in the hobby...I went I got my newest addition!!

So far so good, a little chasing around is going on right now...BUT I have already seen sides being established in the tank and Mr. Butterfly has already ate some frozen brine!!

I tried to add one with a yellow tang already in the tank. the yellow tang harrassed it, so the copperband was always hidding. I just never saw it again, died somewhere in the rockwork and probably eaten off by my crabs.

Hey puffer, what kind of things did you feed your copperband? I stick Rods orange pack, frozen brine with a cube of spirulina... every other day... I also feed pellets but he doesnt seem very interested in these...lastly I throw a sheet of nori in there every few days...

I have had one in my reef, and he was a model citizen. Didn't go after aptaisa though. Had him for 8 months or so with his main diet being mysis. Passed him along to another reefer and he didnt make it a week. Very delicate fish, stresses easily. With a big enough tank I think he would be fine with a yellow tang.

never bother my clams or zoas
Do any of them do or was this just yours? I know they are a hit or miss with aptasia and it says they are reef safe with caution so what is the caution about? what do they go after usually if they do?
