Steve's LED's for biocube

Has anyone installed one in a biocube 29 hood or have experience with them? Is the kit from Raipdled better? Was it easy to assembly?

I can't decide which one I want to go with since I don't have experience with LED's.

The most work I've done with lighting before I did my rapid led retrofit was screwing a lightbulb in. I thought the install was very simple and the results were great

Nice jason! are is that custom with tims light bars hahaa

Sure is.

I have not heard bad things about either steves or rapidled. Im not a fan of paying someone to do what i can do myself and probably do it better.

If i had to pick between the 2 i would probably go with rapid because ive heard of more people using them with great results. Beardown i think just installed a rapid kit and he wont shut up about it!

I agree Jason, once my heatsinks get here from China im doing my first DIY. For 100 bucks I can build something better than a $250 plus fixture

Yes thanks I seen them but I'm stuck between the Rapidled and Steve's.

Your breaking my heart... We bin our LEDs and our staff are reefkeepers.

Mike from Rapid sells the latest Cree LEDs

I would avoid the dated 3 watt LEDs

The Cree for the most part is full spectrum less the red and blue...You dont need the red but some add it like makeup to improve coral looks.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Bill

If you have some mechanical/electrical knowledge and know how to solder, not too hard.

I am going to install a Steve's LED kit that I picked up used tomorrow on my 14G biocube. I will let you know how hard it is. Looks almost plug and play since it is alright put together.
