I don't really want to use flatworm exit ... Any other proven methods to get rid of these guys ? I have thousands ! I've heard all sorts of solutions from melanarus wrasse to leaving lights off for a few days ?
What is the best solution ?

Thanks

What type of flatworms? Are they aefw? Are they the red planaria with the trident tails? Are they the acoel flatworms with a forked tail? Take a pic and show us.

Flatworm exit is a proven method to get rid of flatworms, even the ones hiding in cracks of rocks. You will need to siphon out as much as you can during water changes. you may need to do multiple water changes over a few days to get numbers down to prevent toxin release of the worms. Then follow directions of flatworm exit. It's pretty safe as long as you follow directions.

will one box be enough ? i have about 250 gal. total water volume

IMO I would put a natural predator in the tank like a melanurus wrasse or six line in first. Worst case is you end up with new active fish and have to use the flatworm exit. My melanurus wrasse hammered the FW problem in a few days.

If they start smothering your corals, I would siphon as much out and use flatworm exit. You can try melanarus route, but with your big tank, you might need to buy more than one to even make a dent.

If you siphon, do it from your DT in to a sock in your sump. This way you can do as much as you want and do not need to replace the water.

after i added the six line .. i did see deccrease in their numbers and i have to look hard to find them now .. but regardless after 2 weeks of adding the sixline they are still there ..

not sure if six line is going after them and taking its time or if im feeding the sixline more than enough to make it lazy to hunt :dontknow:

Hey thats a great idea ! as simple as it is , i didnt even think of that ! thats why i like this site ! you can get a lot of different opinions and ideas .... i will try the wrasse route and maybe the damsel ? your right SIEBO , worst case is i have a few more fish ?
but i can still do the filter sock into my sump .. my sump is in my basement so it will have to be a long hose !

You can do the same thing when vacuuming your gravel. I do this about once a week to keep my gravel white and free of detritus. I also learned that trick on this site.

After u do all that add a coral banded shrimp
My coral banded is a beast Every night after I shut
The lights off he searches over all my rocks
When I first got him I seen him eating a bristle worm
Ever since then I haven't seen another bristle in my tank
Not saying he ate all them in my tank in one day
And I wasn't infested but mayb it'll help a little
