Monti's have me stumped

So i picked up the Auqaman and Sunset monti's from Victor.

I had both types of monti's before without an issue. I put these two in my tank, on the sandbed to get them started in my tank.

I can still see the polyps a little but they are not full and the bases are losing their colors.

I thought something in my levels was off but PH, Calcium, Phosphates, nitrates, ammonia are all spot on. Salinity is 1.026.

The only thing i can figure out is the flow or lighting is not enough for them so I am moving them up now to get higher light and flow.

I figured I would ask here if any of the experts might know something. I really thought it was PH but it is perfect. So I am stumped other than light and flow.

Any ideas?

Sorry to hear that they're not doing well. You still have the LED lights? How much flow are they getting?

R they fading or bleaching . Id guess a mixture of both light and flow mine seems to like med light and high indirect flow

I really think they need to move up and get more flow and light.

I moved them yesterday as a test and today they seem better.
The colors were fading mainly but i can still see the polyps. Today they looked better. Hopefully it gets better with the flow and light increase. I had them in the sandbed so both may have been too low.

Damn, that is probably it. I actually do not test for Alk. Also, with this new tank, I started using reef crystals salt, which I did not use before when I had monti's so I wonder if they is changing it a bit. I dose with Fuel too so I wonder if reef crystals and fuel together are making it higher.

I could kick myself right now if that is the issue because I should have caught that sooner. I'll stop and grab an Alk test today to test it.

Thanks everyone for the help. I really appreciate it. I love that I can ask for help and get a bunch of ideas to help me think in the right direction when I have a brain fog.

All of my montis are very bright at an alk of ~9.5. While that may be your issue, as far as a swing between tanks, I doubt it is your overall issue. Generally with montis and polyp extension you have a light or flow issue.

I have about 6 different types of monti's and I've come to notice the encrusting Montis like Poker, Rainbow, Aquaman, Chilli Pepper, Mystic Sunset, Sunset Monti, UUW Rainbow Monti's like Medium to High light with medium to high flow. Montipora Capricornis, like red, green, Fake Leng Sy with Purple Rim, Starburst are low to medium lighting with medium to high flow. Just some of my experience with most of these types of Monits.
