8 weeks running fallow, treated all my fish with copper

And yet I still have ich showing up on my Kole Tang a week and a half after putting the fish back into the display tank... Sooner or later it's probably going to show up on the rest of my fish but what other options do I have aside from removing them and treating with copper again?

Building up an immunity? Heavier feedings?

I only trust copper. I don't think hoping for the best is a good idea. Were you testing your copper levels while the fish were in QT? The only thing I can think of is that you didn't have the copper strong enough? Good luck. I can only imagine going through that for eight weeks only to have it fail. Sorry to hear this.

Yes it is rather frustrating waiting 8 weeks and all just to have my fish get ich again. After the initial copper treatment I lowered the copper concentration for another two weeks then went the last four copper less with great success. Could the ich have made it through the whole qt process or could it have remained in the tank?

if u followed your copper treatment correctly its most likely ich was still present in the dt at only 8 weeks. there are diff opinions out there but from what i have read seems 72 days and up are most successful at getting rid of the parasite from your dt. good luck and sorry to hear it has returned .

U need to treat and leave fallow for atleast 4 weeks. Make sure u check copper levels or risk killing your fishes.

No,the only food use for 4 weeks

If you only used this food for four weeks, then I have a feeling the fish may have lost some strength by not eating fully. You should have left the tank fallow for 10-12 weeks. I went through the exact same process myself and I waited 10 weeks before putting my fish back into my DT. During that 8 week period did you also introduce anything new to either the QT or DT?

I have 20 fish in my 300g mix.don't have big QT to do it,so I just feed as much as fish can eat.maybe luck.so far so good. After that, I put a pair of Japanese masked swallowtail Angelfish in.Been two months now,no sign of ich.

I agree with Aaron and Chris, I'd go 12 weeks. I'm personally going 90 days. I also found similar info as Chris in regards to how long ich can last without a host and it seems that the parasite can last well over two months. So I figured an extra two weeks over the longer period observed would be a good start.

This happened to me once and it is extremely disheartening and there are many other stories of this happening to others! The crypt is not going to make it indefinitely without fish, that much is certain. If I recall, from past research, I think the magic # was 9 weeks but i could be remembering wrong. I'd concur that the copper levels were likely not high enough during QT. Or perhaps the fallow period wasn't quite long enough, impossible to say which it was.
