Hello everyone. Just a little background about my life with fish. Grew up with a freshwater tank when I was younger, but dad got rid of the tank in my teen years. I always wanted a salt water tank , but he was all about freshwater planted tanks. So in college I decided I was going to start my own. It being college I went with a small freshwater tank since i was a poor college kid. Then girlfriend now wife wasn't the biggest fan, so after I left never got another one going. Well had my first kid a little over a year ago and my wife and I discovered she loved fish. At about 4 months anytime we would go to the doctor or mall and there would be an aquarium she would just stare. This gave me the perfect opportunity to get back into the game. I knew as soon as I got the ok from her I had to act quick because she could have changed her mind while I was planning. Ended up using my old 10 gallon college tank just adding some dry rock live sand and a heater. Since I have added a BRS media reactor and a MJ1200 for that. Also have another 10 gallon sump and external overflow, and a SCA-301 skimmer that I just haven't had time to install. As far a livestock I have 2 clowns, 1 Midas blenny, and a skunk shrimp. My coral collection has been slow, but happy with my progress for 4 months.

Welcome. Haha a true reefer, knows not to wait one minute after getting the wife's approval. I usually ask her when she's tired so by the time she's awake I bought what I had asked for.

How is the tank set up? Seems like you pump water down to the sump..can't tell from the picture.

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone.

The pump actually just feeds the BRS media reactor. I have the sump but need time to install the baffles and get everything set right. Sometime soon I'm hoping I can find a few hours to do it. When I finally get the sump in place it will be fed with a HOB overflow. Heard some bad things about drilling 10 gallon tanks. Dont want to risk it.

I hear you. It's time consuming. Looks good so far. And i have had good experiences in the past drilling tanks. SkullV on here has even drilled a 5.5 specv tank. Just needs a ton of patience. But since the tank is up and running I would go your route, an overflow box would be great. Only downside is the room they take up inside the tank.

And by the time u get done- it will be time to upgrade..lol. awesome start goodluck with the build up, have fun
