Can I buy good quality, reliable Heater at Petco or Petsmart? My heater is going bad I think. Can't keep 76 degrees. It dropped down overnight to 72...
It's 125 in 40 breeder with 20 gal. Sump..

Maybe get a smaller one to help out? A 100 or 200 watt of any brand should be able to bump you up a few degrees right?

I think you can get a good heater at either place. I would definitely replace you one you have. Do you have it connected to any kind of controller?

No. No Çontroller. Now when I read more I think 125W isn't enaugh for 40 gal plus 20 gal. sump. I should put 200W one. So I think old one is still good just need more wattage. I ordered another 125 online. so I will have 2 - 125w. Also thinking of buying simple Controller like Finnex 300. For now I droped 250W heater from my old big tank that I sold. I had to put it in Display because it won't fit in my sump :(

I remember the guideline used to be 5 watts per gallon but you should be alright with two 125s. If you're somewhat handy you could build a heater controller for about $30.

This is great information on the controller is it that easy?

You can buy a Finnex heater controller for under $30. As far as heaters go I use one Aqueon Pro 150 watt for 75 gallons. They're fully submersible, also under $30, plus you can mount them horizontally or vertically and they're made of super hard plastic so you don't have to worry about broken glass.
