Has anyone used a moving company to move a big fish tank cross country?? Moving to Florida and want to take my Red Sea Reefer 350 with me. Bad idea??? I will drive the livestock down myself but the moving company will take the tank. Curious to see if anyone knows the cost to make that move.

I know this isn’t what you asked but, Do you have room in the vehicle that you will be driving down? May save you some money.

It is a very risky move
Most often the movers excuse about damage is “its like that when we loaded up”

Insurance is for sure a need when moving something like that

I am most worried about leaks after the move and I can't claim insurance anymore if there were no visible damage to the tank. And will it cost like $1000? If so, I may as well buy a new Red Sea Reefer when I get down there....

I tried to get a quote and got the standard "we have to come in and take a look" bs

Yeah selling it and buying another would be full proof.

the livestock should be ok in a big Rubbermaid tub for a few days right? Last time I had a leak in my nano, I had all the livestock in a plastic bin for weeks...just had to do constant water changes.

From what I have seen at a local shop...they had a tank of great fish and I was interested. I was told the fish were being taken care of until the guy moved and set up. So apparently took care of the fish and corals and then shipped to this guy. Not sure if you can find a shop or friend but I would go this route first.
