    Bear & Emily's bio-cube 29

Finally moving forward. After a good 2-3 month cycle, the first fish is in, a chromis! Next we'll be re-doing the aquascape, removing the PC canopy in favor of halide (unless I come into some money and buy leds), and adding a skimmer. Then we will pack it full of coral.

    Halide malfunction

Anyone know what it means if my halide lamp is turning off for a minute or two at random intervals about 15 times during the day? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

    Fuzzy stuff

Anyone know what causes a little clump of fuzzy algae-like stuff to grow out the top of an otherwise healthy favia colony? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

    Chalice death

Yesterday I came back from New Fish with a good sized piece of chalice and a little favia. This morning the flesh is gone from the chalice, it's dead. I drip acclimated both for a little more than an hour after a short ride home. The favia looks happy already, like all the other corals I have...

    Cichlids need home

I have three little (less than inch) Kenyi cichlid fry. Can anyone give one or two of them a good home? I only have tank space for one. They are growing real quick and eat voraciously. Free to a good home, though I would not turn down a frag in trade.

    FW Hitchhiker

Can anyone identify this freshwater fish? My girlfriend (petsmart manager) received a shipment of feeder goldfish a few days ago and this little guy was in there with them. My neighbor's FW tank had just finished cycling so we threw him in there. He came in temperate water, and appears to be...

    Crappy RO system

Anybody else have major problems with Coralife ro systems?

    Marine roly-poly?

I've noticed that I have a good many of these in my sand. They appear to be segmented with a hard shell, and can move fairly quickly on legs too small to see. They all have varying black and white patterns. Every now and then I see one on coral but they don't appear to be eating or irritating...

    Is this a dendro?

I can't even find anything on the internet that looks quite the same. It's heads continue to grow out like branches, but it is also encrusting, spreading from it's plug and growing new heads on the rock bellow it. It was three little heads when I got it almost a year ago; now it has eight or...

    I'm keeping my majanos!

My 3 majanos are very big and nice. They even have very pronounced bubble-tips sometimes. They came to me on a few chips of coral skeleton, from a guy who also didn't know what they were. I have them in places where I can see them at all times, and where I can remove them easily if need be. I...

    Ugly Tree

Why would my Kenya tree be so droopy and ugly? All my other corals are very happy, colorful, and extended. My parameters have been stable and great for half a year. Only change: I raised temperature from 78 to 80 about 3 days ago. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4

    Water temp question

What temperature does everyone keep their reefs? Do different types of coral do best at certain temperatures? Any other reasons to manipulate temperature in our reefs?

    Cup coral?

I'm pretty sure this is a cup/birdbath coral(turbinaria peltata), but can anyone tell for certain? I want to be sure. It's growing on an inch and a quarter frag plug, for scale. It has been slow to acclimate; the tentacled polyps that are apparent today were just bumps through the first week I...

Is this a tiny shrimp or a giant copepod?
