    240 Gallon Build

It's here!!!! I hear some of the big LFS names in Chicago can be hired to help, also they should have the right tools and equipment being this is their industry. Try TankItEasy, Old Town Aquarium, or Aquatic World to name a few locals.

Wanted to show off my newest addition

Yezzir! I didn't think anyone in their right mind would buy a old Penguin powerhead lol

Wanted to show off my newest addition

I'll contribute when I can, unfortunately I'm completely out of goldies and down to my prized koi now, not much to give anymore lol

Wanted to show off my newest addition

Yes, koi pond is alive and well, almost time to startup the pond.

Wanted to show off my newest addition

Lookin' good LatinoHeat! Glad to see you back, I feel like you were one of the first people I met when I got into the hobby in 2007.

    210 reboot

Welcome back! Your tank is a blast from the past and I miss those days, I don't see many Tunze Turbelle's and MH anymore when at one point in time they had an iron grip on the hobby. Seems like everyone now runs Vortech's or Gyres and LEDs, definitely keeping an eye on your updates, let's see if...

    Tropic Marin Pro Salt

I am a TM user myself and am waiting to find out if my batch is affected and what their actions are. As of now I'm not seeing the brown residue but if this is why some of my corals are not coming out, I'm going to be in a world of hurt coming from 'Ol trusty Reef Crystals. Took a peek at the...

    Cora life 29 bio questions

I had an Oceanic Biocube before Coralife bought and rebranded them. I think they're decent all-in-ones that are available literally everywhere with a few drawbacks you should be aware of: 1. The rounded glass corners are a PITA to clean. 2. Back chamber is tight and due it being so tall, is...

    Seahorse tank

I assume you want standard seahorses and not dwarfs? If standard, 20 gallons minimum in my opinion. If you go dwarfs, 5 gallons is more than enough but they are a lot of work.

    BRS acquires Neptune Systems

OH MAN. They're going against Coralvue with this play. They're really trying to dominate the market both from retail and R&D aspect.

How Long Have You Been in the Hobby?

18 years freshwater 14 years reef 10 years koi pond Lifetime of wasting money on expensive hobbies when some of my socks have holes in them.

    Freshwater

Actually this would work fine. But do recall waste water will be very high in TDS which is good for most plants but not for sensitive plants.
  14. Fish_wiz2

    Freshwater

Nah, unless you're trying to target specific parameters. I find it more work to use RO/DI and re-mineralize+fertilize. Dechlorinate tap water is fine.

Curing rock in bleach turned blue?

To add to that, it is well known that mixing bleach and muriatic acid is deadly. Not that you will but it is important to get all the residue bleach off the rock before it touches the acid.

Curing rock in bleach turned blue?

That looks like dead sponge to me. Bleach doesn't dissolve it but does kill it. It would be safe to use but you will see a mini cycle as it slowly rots lol

    Ai prime vs hydra

Do you have a preference to the corals you want to keep? I can't see you needing more than a Prime HD on a tank that size but if you're going heavy SPS, a Hydra 32 maybe the way to go.

    EcoPico Restart

I used to run a 3g JBJ Pico sexy shrimp tank with an AI Prime. That tank was a success solely due to the Finnex HOB fuge I ran, I grew TONS of macro algae and my water was spotless. If you're interested I still have that fuge. But you should be fine with the light and flow if you keep the MP10...

Local Fish Stores - Chicagoland (Updated July 2021)

Excited to see ReefWise bounce back, they've been in limbo for quite awhile. Also, Tank It Easy has moved to the northwest side if editing the address is possible. Also only open Friday and Saturday for now.
