14 BC Warty Tank

Sweet setup Erik. I see one of the shrimps appear to be carrying eggs! One thing that shrimp people seem to like are almond leaves. People are always selling them on theplantedtank.net. Never really read to much about the leaves, but just noticed a lot of people use them with shrimp tanks. It would be awesome if you can get them breeding consistently rather than having to buy them all the time!
 
thanks dom, that was kinda the plan? make that tank somewhat nice down there and just cram it with shrimp, hopefully sumthin happens. probably would need to put a better sponge on the HoB tho. almond leaf substrate or just kinda leaves chillin in there?

It just looked like they threw leaves on the substrate. Not sure if they eat them or the tannins from the leaves emit something that shrimp like. I'm sure there must be a FW shrimper on here somewhere! I had some, they bred, then all were eaten by my rainbows.
 
you are not gonna put sand in there ?? i know its a pain to clean but sand gives natural look as far as i know :)

yea i was thinking that, especially with such a light substrate, end up pulling plants out. proly guna buy like 25~ tmrw from global. hopefuly they fill it up enough where it shudnt be too bad. if it stick my hand in there they all run to the front corner. nice n easy to grab. but who knows when the plants fill out

i have a bag, but im really NOT a sand guy. at all. proly be easier for the frog to walk on, but like u said it is just so much easier to clean. with it being on the smaller side for anglers id like to be able to get poopoo up n out as quickly as possobly.
 
Froggys don't mind no sand. They perch on anything. Just more difficult to blend into see-through ;)

And Xzotics is LOADED with wartys. I got two today!

I need ghost shrimp too... Gotta make a round of calls tomorrow.... lol

the ark just got a shipment of them in Wed. Ghost Warty :ph34r:
 
I'll call and make sure they still have some before I go. They sell out so dang fast at every store... I bought them out last time, lol, 2 dozen....
