Hey all. Setting up a 55 gallon FOWLR, but thinking about maybe doing some soft corals if this light can handle it. I know it's overkill for just fish, but I love the way actinic makes the water and colors just pop.

Think some softies would be safe?

Tank is standard 55, about 18 inches deep I think?

I have a nearly identical fixture over my 75 gallon reef. I have softies and LPS. All are happy, and all are growing. You're good!

Certainly! Most sofites would probably prefer power compacts. I actually kept some LPS under PC's and they did fine.

Same here I used similar fixture on 75. Softies and lps. Did fine. Good luck can't wait to see pics.

Well that's good news. I can't believe how cheap that thing was!

I have the tank up and sump running now. Any suggestions on how to quiet down a eshopps overflow? It's not much louder than my skimmer, but still, lol.

i used a solo cup invert it and make a hole on bottom the insert a piece of syphon hose it quiets it down some not pretty but didnt really see it on my old set up

Hey, just a quick question, but would any anemones that can host clowns be able to live under this light?

I use a ziplock bags cut in out bottom with it zip tied on to quite my overflows in my tank and sump.

I am thinking no. Also don't expect your clowns to jump in there and host it even if you got one. I have my clownfish with an anemone (2 different ones 2 different tanks) from the time I got them and they haven't hosted yet. They would rather host the mag float :) Occys (what I have) are just as likely to host fuzzy mushrooms and torch coral which should do pretty well with your lights. Good luck!

An E. Quadricolor (bubble tip anemone) would be just fine under that lighting. People keep them under stock NanoCube PCs all the time.

Like Heidi said though, unless you get a species that uses the E. Quadricolor as its natural host (Maroon, Clarkii, Cinnamon, Tomato, etc.) don't expect them to dive in. I got really lucky with my Ocellaris but many people wait for months and months and they never host.
