Yah there are similar cycles with a bunch of different parasites. Ants too.

there is a particle of gamma radiation out there in the universe that will eventually hit one cell of this fungus mutating into a form that will infect humans. I only hope we're able to finally stamp out all of that pesky rainforest life before that happens.
