Do the Radions need an additional controller?
Yes, but either way your looking at extra $ for dimming, and honestly the AI are still an overall nicer quality product to the Apollo (not hating on Apollo, just being objective) the advantage to Apollo is INSANE par values for the dollar.
Nope. It can do all of the preset colors and all of the dimming out of the box. Free pc software available for custom programming. Mac software and iPhone/iPad app in development.
It's an insane blade of light. The par drops off FAST with the 70* optics and the penetration drops off FAST with the 40*.
How far AWL do you have to keep the Radions cause under the canopy I only have 6 inches.
No argument there, but even off center at 12" below water 650+ par is still a lot to deal with not being able to dim the fixture.
Well there you go. AI won't work, Apollo don't dim... Gotta get the Radion lights while you can still get that illegal price on them.
Do you think they will honor that price?
No, unfortunately I don't. Champion gets pretty bad reviews as it is. I would try talking to premium aquatics and see what they can do for you.
You could always place the order, and if they don't honor the price you can just cancel the order and walk away.
Is that where you got yours?
That is what I plan on doing.
When you get them let me know and I'll email you some cool custom lighting programs. I have been putting together some orange/violet sunrise/sunset and a bunch of other neat programs.

Anyone know if GHL Profilux is compatible with the Radion?
