Aiptasia Killings or help

So about a few weeks ago I found an Aiptasia in my Tank, it has grown pretty huge and it's the only one so far I have seen in the tank. I am scared to bother it becasue these things spread like wild fire. Just want to know how I shoudl attack this thing.

My last tank 72G I was plagued with them I tried everything accept the Majano Zapper... Nothing really worked as they continued to come back... I even had a Cooper Band eat them to a File Fish eating them as well... The problem is they will eat them but not get to the base of the problem. Also with Joe's Juice and all the other Juices out there, I notice they ten to spread the love around the tank if you don't siphon all of it up... It's kind of hard to get every single piece since even the samllest piece can regenerate anywhere in your Tank.

I will try a zapper if anyone has one to barrow or can come by and take a stab at it... Let me know

Thanks

The zapper only works if they are out in the open. If they based themselves in a hole you wont be able to desintegrate all of it. I know theres a few people here that has it. Aiptasia X worked for me

I have a very bad infestation of Aiptasia in my system. It was at a point I could not remove the rock anymore to get rid of them. I ordered for 445nm 2W laser to burn Aiptasia & other pests in water.

I paid a lot of money for this & am thinking of renting out the laser since a lot of people have issues with Aiptasia. But on the down side, a lot of risk is involved with the equipment as well as personal injury. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO USE LASER & IT IS NOT A TOY! So have to work out on the details.

How bad is your problem?
Berghia Nudibranches work extremely well. I do not suggest them as a means of control if you have under ~50 aptasia. The Berghia hunt in packs so you will need 8~10 for a tank your size. You may not see the desired results by adding fewer. They typically come in 1/2" and 1/4" size. 1/4" will work fine as they reach maturity very quickly. It takes patience to see results but they will eat at least one a day. They might need some help finding anemoes and can be gently moved to new "problem areas" They are easy to breed as long as you can keep a steady food source. If you are not looking you keep supplemental aptasia as a food source you should plan on another member who will care for them when they have finished all your anemones. I think someone was selling them in the livestock forum awhile back.

I have 1 large one... I don't want another outbreak... As for using Aiptasia X, Joes Juice, and other Juices I tried them and they seem to work but the Aiptasia will come back 10x worst than before... So if you think it works check you tank out in about a month or so and you'll see they will return... I know of other experiencing the same problem... I just hAte to take out one big rock to destroy one Aiptasia..

If all you have is 1, then take a ball of epoxy putty and seal it into whatever crevice it hides it. Seal it in like a tomb. This way it won't spread. This has worked like a champ for me but isn't always practical if you are trying to get rid of a lot of them.

Ah Yes thanks for the reminder, I will try this out should take care of it... Forgot about the epoxy

I have a raccoon-faced butterflyfish that apparently eats aptasia. The guy I bought this tank setup from apparently bought the raccoon to clear an aptasia outbreak, and the tank is clean of aptasia, so, well, guessing it worked, lol. I need to find a new home for him as is - so let me know if you'd be interested. If you do go for berghias, just make sure you find a new home for them once the aptasia is gone... they don't anything else.

I found 1 when I was switching tanks Sunday on a piece of rock

I put the **** rock in ice cold FW for about 2 hours
Would u know it didn't even die
Things are annoying and strong

I like that epoxy idea
I wonder if I have any left
