Anyone go back to MH or T5 from LEDs?

Don't get me wrong...the love the shimmer, color customization, and efficiency but are you satisfied with the results? Ive had AI Nano and the Radion 1st gen for my experience, but after checking out some tanks with 20k Radiums, I really miss my old tanks with MH/T5 combo. Only thing holding me back is the bulbs and heat but i dont know.

i tried leds and i have seen a bunch of them. None of them make me want to switch. Im currently running t5s and love mh as well. I know everyone keeps calling me crazy but something is missing with leds, at least with the way sps look.

There is a huge thread of people saying the same thing on RC. I don't like the bulb replacement and the cost to run. LED's are still young for this hobby and have made large strives thus far. They will do nothing but improve.

Tried AI sols for over a year. Not satisfied at all (great for a few months then everything stopped).
Went back to mh/t5. Giesemann spectra with 2x250w 20k radium and 4xBlue+. Corals looked better in only a couple days.

Heat/power/size sucks, but corals love em. I dont plan on going back to led.

What happened? How did everything stop? Im seeing faster growth with LEDs compared to any other lighting Ive used.

I've always wondered but wouldn't a 6 or 8 bulb t5 cost just as much as a 250 or even 400w mh? I always see people complaining about the cost to run mh but with a large fixture isn't it going to cost the same?

I don't mind paying more for electricity so I can have MH's over T5's since they rock the sps better (IMO). Once my stick garden turns into a forest I won't be so worried about growth and I might go to LED's to see if I can get better colors out of them. Or, I might skip LED's and wait for Plasma lights to gain traction and come down in price. Then wait a few more years for other people to review the growth with Plasma's, LOL !!!

I'm just going to get some atomic particles and build my own sun and get natural sunlight above my tank. Maybe a 1x1 sun. yea that'll work. :)

I went from ok t5's (Finnex) to led then back to awesome t5's (ATI SunPower Dimmable) then upgraded tanks and went Tek T5 on that tank. I want to give led a 2nd try but lighting A 6 foot tank gets costly if you want something nicer than the cheap Chinese stuff so still holding off waiting for the hype pricing to cool off and prices get more realistic.

I ran led for a 1 1/2yrs next to my metal halides side by side over my 300 gal. all sticks dominated. All i can say is there is no other bulbs can make sticks color pop like MH. LED would still give u good color but none like MH. MH can bring all the hidden colors and not to mention rapid growth in SPS that other bulbs were lacking, and considering all aspect in the tank r all in line the colors r even more spectacular. Depending which corals u were keeping LPS and softies I would go w/ LEDS . STICKHEADS hang on to ur halides:dance3: .
