The site is dead but every once in awhile people pop in
To be completely honest since facebook's groups started, traffic to the site has slowly gone down. We do have a facebook group that has more activity then the site these days. We have been trying to determine what to do but it seems like most people prefer to be on social media than the local forum site. We would be happy to listen to an ideas on what would attract more people to the site. We did a revamp last year to freshen the site up but are still trying to come up with some ideas on how to get more user engagement.

I still poke around here now and then. But as mentioned, local forum boards are dead, all of them. R2R is jumpin’ as a whole but even their CMAS sub-forum is also dead. It is crazy to see RC boom and bust within my lifetime.
Everyone has facebook and the integration of groups makes it a no brainer to use that, it’s easy and it’s built in, unlike a forum.
@Chicagoreefs ; I think we’re fighting an uphill battle trying to bring back traffic to forums, but my useless 2 cents is we need to revive CMAS, you cannot tell me a massive market like Chicago has a dormant reef club. Maybe bringing that out of hibernation will bring back forum members, if not, attract new ones. There’s no sense of reef community anymore in Chicago.

Sorry for the late reply. I used to run the Rockford aquarium club for years and we always had the same 6 people show up. CMAS would have the same issue from what I understood. Unfortunately I think the vast majority of people are just in the clubs for cheap frags and frag swaps. Same thing for the forums especially now information on the hobby is so vast. Even MACNA is gone now and most the large events have been poorly attended. I thought about just treating Chicago Reefs as a Club and have events. I used to do them when the site was more popular but ran into the same thing were 5 to 10 people would show up. Maybe its possible I'm just not interest is there for a club any more. If someone has an idea for something I am all ears in trying something out
