APEX Controller Email

Hi guys,

Not sure if other Apex Controller owners are aware or not but since the last update Apex did the GMX email serve is no longer compatible and notifications are not being sent out. Yahoo does seem to be working.

I saw that, but by the sounds of it APEX is recommending finding a different service and since I have yahoo and I got it to work.... Besides it sounds like its only a short term solution.

I'm not at home now but when I do get home I'll pass on the info I used for yahoo

GMX wouldn't work for me at all when I setup my first apex. I forget how I went about setting it up with yahoo. It was either in the user manual, or I found it by googling.

It works every single time. I have a sump low switch in my sump that triggers my return to shut off and send me an email and text. I usually trigger it when taking a little too much water out when dipping corals and get both alerts instantly.

I just set up my apex a week ago and still cannot get email to work. I tried gmx then yahoo and my last effort was with comcast which is my ISP. My dns is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Which I read somewhere. Any suggestions would be great.

That dns is Google public dns

Yury, the setting I have for my yahoo to work are as follows...

SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
SMTP port: 587
From: address: youremail@yahoo.com
To: address: youremail@yahoo.com
Alt To: You could use this one to send you a txt which I did
Email Authentication: Enabled
User name: youremail@yahoo.com
User password: your email password

Hope this helps.

They released a new update that helps if you are using gmx.

What settings are you using for yahoo to work?

Jason, you should be able to find your dns by going into the command prompt and using the 'ipconfig' command. PM me if you need help.

Yup, that is a great way to do it.

If you're not familiar with command prompts, you can also find that info by logging into your router, then somewhere there should be all of your network settings. The DNS and secondary DNS are both listed in the routers home page. Well, they should be anyways.
