Apex

I'm looking to finally get a controller. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best components to buy. I'll be running 2 systems off the controller. This is what I'll be controlling

2 jebao return pumps
7 jebao powerheads
3 heaters
3 halides
2 supplemental lights
2 Ato
Feeder

do I just plug these into a regular power strip or hook up to apex also
Skimmer
Doser
Fuge light

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this whole automating thing but need to do it since vacation is coming up and have been hearing too many horror stories of tank crashes or near crashes this past year

If you were to go with apex you would need
1 head unit
1 display
3 EB8
Jebao apex adapter don't know what it's called. You can get the temp and pH probes with the package, and if you are going to be on vacation for more than a couple weeks I would get a salinity probe too. Just in case it fluctuates when you are gone. I'm assuming you have a mess of timers from your halides and fuge light, the apex will automatically control that.

Thanks. Any other opinions on this lol

Where is your third heater?

I assume both tanks have their own sump?

You will need this to run the system properly.

https://www.neptunesystems.com/products/expansion-modules/phorp/

It will allow you to run an additional temp probe for the second tank/heater. It will also allow the system to have it's own pH probe too.

I'd recommend the doser, skimmer, and fuge light to also be on the EB8. It will allow you to create a feed timer, fallbacks, alarms in case you over dose, and also allow a reverse light cycle on the fuge.

The probe module PM2 and PM3 also give you the extra temp probe if for some reason the PM1 was not what you were interested in, however I'd recommend it over the other two.

I bought an apex light from a reefer going out of the hobby and have been trying to determine what all I need to add. I want to thank you for the above information and may ask you for some advice where I am not hijacking his thread.

Have you thought about Reef Angel? I have one and they work great and you can customize it to your liking , for a fraction of the price.

Don't worry about hijacking. I'll probably have the same questions so ask away

I'd look into the archon too. It looks pretty neat. If I were deciding between and reefkeeper (not archon) or apex I would go with apex hands down. I've had some headaches with rke programming and the myreef program.

I'd definitely recommend the salinity probe that's such a convenient tool.

How close are the 2 set ups?

I have an Apex on my 210 (( running about 2 months now )), and I am very happy with it. If I had to do it over again, I would. In the past I used the ReefKeeper I (( the one that came out 10+ years ago )), and it is a HUGE upgrade. I have barely scratched the surface of all that it can do, and still impressed.

Thanks I've been on the neptune systems forum finding out exact component's to buy

Don't mind the algae

You MIGHT need a longer aquabus cable or 2.

Would think you would have one EB8 and a probe module near one tank, and would need get it connected to main unit (( could either be directly into the "head unit" or another module )).
