Aqua Lifter Pump AW-20 Problems

Does anyone have one these? I use it with my CPR overflow box and the thing is constantly failing on me. Every couple months I either need to clean it or replace it. I don't have an issue cleaning it every so often but after a few cleans it becomes weak and the diaphragms are likely not air tight anymore. Luckily they are only $20.

My biggest concern is I travel a lot and it's hard to predict when this thing is going to fail!

Anyone else have issues with these? Any solutions?
 
No one has this huh? I know a lot of reefers in here drill and sump their own tanks. My next tank will definitely not have an overflow box and aqua lifter pump...these things are a pain in my butt.
