I like the higher alk of Red Sea, otherwise I'm all about Seachem. They've been my preferred manufacturer for years now.
 
Neo Marine Reef salt by Brightwell. Just finished first bucket, 150 gallons. Got second one coming. No problems with chemistry.
cal stays at 420 to 450. i do replace with 30 each week from my 2 part.
alk stays at 8.
mg runs 1250. havent had to dose yet. corals are still babies.
ph stable at 8.3
 
If you want higher alk then Red Sea Coral Pro is one of the highest alk out there. It mixes at 12 kh. I run my system with high alk though.
 
Just started using this salt a week ago... I have done 3 water changes between my two tanks with it so far and have been happy with it. After dumping the salt into the water bucket, I have been running a powerhead for about 45 minutes to mix it up and I haven't experienced the cloudiness in the tank that some complain about. Everything seems happy and I really like the high calcium and mag.
 
The Salt was delivered to my estate today, thanks to Dave (Saledo). I made 15 gallons of saltwater. I've read about problems about precipitation and how the salt should be sprinkled in slowly instead of dumped in. I did as folks advised and I had no problems. The salt mixed within minutes with no issues at all. It mixed and dissolved quickly and completely.

I measured Calcium at 582 ppm and Alk is at 196 ppm/3.9 meq/l.

Batch Values were Calcium 437 ppm and Alk 190 ppm/3.8 meq/l.
 
Hi Walt ,what brand tests where you using? Calcium seems very high. Very close to precipitation point.
 
I use hanna checkers. This was after 2 hours of mixing. I will recheck tomorrow after noon and see if the numbers change. Salinity is at 1.026 at room temperature.
 
Just a quick update - I woke up this morning, and as people have said, the water was cloudy. I'll do a water change later today or tomorrow and report back my findings. From what I read, once the water is in the tank, the cloudiness disappears.

As promised, I will recheck calcium and alk later today after 24 hours of mixing.

Thanks for letting us know. For me Alk is a little too high. I think I will try TM as Greg recommended.
 
I made my second batch of Salt Water last night. Half a cup per gallon for my 10 gallon mixing bin. I used two MJ1200s this time and I slowly sprinkled in each half cup into the bin every 15-30 minutes. I don't use a heater to mix. This time around, the water mixed perfectly and clear. No deposits on thesides of the bin. I tested my salinity with my calibrated refractometer this morning and it was exactly at 1.025 which is what I wanted.

I will test the water in my tank on Friday to see how much my corals have used in one week and I will perform a water change shortly after on that same day.
