Bare bottom, Live Rock, Mud, Deep sand bed

I have a 125 g mixed reef with a 80g (50g used) sump which I am adding a 40g refugium to. I am just wondering what I should have in the refugium. I can add any sand stirring, fish, stars or anything else to maintain the sand. I use cheato, carbon and gfo already but am looking to add a few more macro algae to help out and more water to my system. I will be running about 200g per hr to maximize export. If I could create a well established refugium I would love to stop running GFO.
