Basement Sump Pump question

So I think I'm going to try a basement sump with my next setup...but I know the external pumps typically use a lot of energy. So my question is what pumps are the most efficient that can handle the pumping from the basment. I'm thinking my line would be close to 10 ft length wise and 10-15 ft up and down.
 
What size system? Depends on the flow requirements. I have these pumps for sale. They were used on a 120 gallon, but my cousin is going a different route.

It's a 57 gallon tank and the sump is a 100 gallon rubbermaid (half full). I'm guessing with all the rock, sand, etc. I'm looking at a 100 gallons total. I would want about 600 gph going thru the sump.
 
My guess is the Gen-x will get that flow rate at that head height. Let me know if you like it. It doesn't look too great, but was bought last year.
 
I have susesfuly used mag drives as well. 12 18. And 24. All 3the worked great. Use a smaller one. And get power heads of u are worried about electricity cost.
 
Mags aren't designed to be air cooled, but water cooled. That's why external pumps are the way they are. A mag used externally will fail waaaaay before any real external pump. I may add that the motors in external pumps can last a lifetime, as long at the front and rear bearings are replaced every few years, around $20 total at McMaster.
 
true, i just thought that he can put it in his sump, and he will be fine, :), i am just suggesting an option, that is what i used and worked for 9 months until i changed to external. the funny part is that external died and had to go back to mag :)
 
Externals just need the bearings replaced and are good for life. Also keep the temp down, being air cooled. And as far as power usage, external would use less power to get this specific job done. You'd need like a Mag 12, which is 120watt I think, vs. the 55watt Gen-x for example.
 
I just finished plumbing mh system ill post my pics of everything tom night word of advice dont do 100% pvc use as much flex hose as possible more expensive but well worth it pvc made my mag 24 sound like a railroad in my livong room lol
 
Thanks for the advice...I'm not worried about the noise or heat really, just the power consumption. I still have to do the hard part of getting to the basement from the up stairs. It's not a straight shot down, and knowing my luck where I want to run the tubing will be an air duct or some other obstruction! Painting the room tomorrow, hopeing to work on the plumbing by next weekend. The GenX might work, but I still want to run the lines first to know the exact distance I'm working with.
