Best ATO to Use with Reefkeeper Lite

I just got back from an eight day vacation and................nothing went wrong with my tank. However, it almost did as my undersized topoff tank (6 gal) went dry and my water level in my sump dropped dangerously low. My neighbor refilled it with Kalk water twice, and it still almost went dry over eight days. All is well.

I've been using a gravity fed float valve and frankly, it scares me. I'd like to get a real ATO with a pump. I have a RKL, but whatever I get doesn't' necessary have to work with it. It could be standalone.

I'd like to be able to put this on a brute can of kalk water when I leave town and not have to worry about my sump running dry or asking my neighbor to keep it full. When I'm around, I'd like to put it on about a 15 gallon topoff container. Any suggestions?

The best ATO to use with the reefkeeper lite is the DA SL1 or SL2 with the DA float valve kit and the pump of your choice. I like the BRS 50ml/min ATO pump or the Avast Marine ATO pump but many get away with aqualifters.

+1

You can do it with timers, but you will have to play with math and evaporation rate in 24hrs. Another member and me have done it this way and has worked.

I use Tunze osmolator , best ATO IMO., it has an optical eye sensor and float switch as back up. Two years now, never malfunction. It is a stand alone ATO . I lose about 11 gal. every week due to evaporation, keeps my sump level constant without problem.
