Bio Media for Sump

Hey Guys, question for the experts. What bio media should I be using in my sump? is it ok to use Fluval Biomax Filter Media?
i once had a canister and used that and it worked pretty good. I am not sure if the rules change for Bio media from canister to sump.

How much liverock and sand do you have in your tank? Personally that's all you need. When I switched to a sump from a canister yearsssss ago, I ditched the bio media entirely. I find it more important to keep the sump clean of detritus than having a ton of bio media which can clog and trap detritus.
 
You can if you have enough liverock and sand. You can also remove the bio media in increments just in case a sweep of the bio media could cause an imbalance while the bio on your liverock and sand catch up.
