Hey guys I just looked at my tank and noticed that my mandarin goby is showing white patches on his body and fins. This is not ich it is something else. He looks to be doing fine and may be losing weight lately but I'm not totally sure cuz he is still nice and plump. Take a look at the pics it's like he is just losing pigment in the areas where the white patches are. U can still see the design going through the patches it just appears that he has lost pigment.

Could have scratched himself

Don't think so he had one on his fin a week ago and it went away but now there are multiple spots on his body not just one. They also don't look like scratches they are more like blotches like somone pours bleach on him

Michael jackson disease lol maybe hes getting stung by something they do bounce around the rocks

I guess it could be stinging I dunno though I guess I'll just keep an eye on him. It's def weird looking. Dunno why but the mandarin was swimming around and I was able to just scoop him up without him swimming or trying to get away, I dunno if he is fatigued for some reason but I'm able to just scoop him out of the tank when I want? Super weird

Did some more research and after typing in mandarin stung into google and not mandarin white blotch it appears that the mandarin has been stung. The thread I found is describing what's going on with my mandarin almost to a t. I'll keep the thread updated as he heals. Still don't know why it's so easy to catch him but maybe that's secondary to the sting. So weird though cuz before this mandarin I had another with just as many stinging corals and anemones and she never got stung. Had her for three years until she recently had a freak accident and passed :(,,
