brs reactor and granular gfo

its been 4 days that im running reactor but only with maybe 1/3 of the dose that brs calculator gave me should i add couple more tbsp of gfo or wait more ?????????

Did you test for phosphate before and after? Is there a noticeable drop in phosphate levels? If you have high levels of PO4 and it dropped a little but not dropping anymore you have to change GFO as it depletes fairly quick. If it still dropping, leave it till it stops ,than replace it.Don't add too much as corals don't like any quick changes.

lysy, how you liking yours? My tank is absolutely LOVING the dual reactor. Water is ice blue clear, all my LED algae has dried up and gone and my corals are happier than ever. If i knew the reactor would work this much better than bags of chemi-pure i would have bought it a LONG time ago!

ok i have api phosphate kit so it doesnt give me exact number but im still have the red hairy algea in my overflows and some on my favia coral so i think either i put to little gfo in reactor( i put 1/3 whats recomended) or its to soon to see difrence

ty guys, hey mm i think i have like 0.25 ppm

The GFO doesnt work miracles, the hair algae will take a while to wither away. The biggest thing you will notice at first is the lack of algae growth on your glass.

It will take sometime to get down to acceptable level, but just as FishBeard said GFO is no miracle.Make sure your tank is not overstacked and don't overfeed. I keep my PO4 in my SPS tank very close to zero.In a reef you don't want to go over 0.04 ppm.

Remove manually as much algae as you can and replace your GFO.With this level of PO4 it is most likely used up already.

120 most sps 2- wrasses 3", -naso tang 5", -tail spot1,5" , -hawk fish 3" for sure not overfeeding mm and fish what would you do add little bit more after 4 days or wait like 2 weeks???

It doesn't look like you're overstocked, though your Naso Tang will outgrow your tank soon.I have a lot more fish in my 120gal.How old is your system?Did you let it mature completely before adding livestock? What kind of skimmer are you using?

Its up to you what to do, i wouldn't add more to whats in there, i would replace whats in there and do 1/2 the dosage for the next week. I think next sunday I will be replacing mine just to do so since I failed to pack the carbon tight enough in the canister and I am getting a little tumble. 1/2 dose of GFO seems to be doing my tank well right now, I will probably not do a full dose, just wasting the stuff using more than i need.

ok i made a switch from my 75g to 120g around3 months ago i add some new dry rock (cycled the rock itself for hm 6 weeks) but right now im geting some algea on rock looks like diatoms to me (brownish stingylike algea), skimmer reef octopus 160 EXT, macroalges in sump growing crazy, alot flow in tank 30x turnover
