bubble algae questions

I don't know the scientific name of it, but i have the little green bubble algae popping up from time to time. Some are dark metallic green and some are kinda clear. Are these just called bubble algae or is there another name?

I've been pulling them out when I see them (outside of the tank so they don't burst in the tank), is there anybody that eats these things?

Valonia, Ventricaria, Dictyospheria are the main types of bubble algea, emeralds will eat them but tend to pop them in the process spreading it further, careful hand removal (dont pop) is effective, some tangs (notably powder browns/blues and naso) have been known to eat it as well.

I don't really buy into the whole popping under water theory, maybe I'm wrong. There are certain animals that eat it, but by eating it, isn't it being popped?

i know there is a lot or reports of popping them being bad, but I've literally tried to get it to spread that way in my fuge and it does not seem to get any worse. I literally can't keep the stuff around, but my other macros (chaeto, caleurpa, dragon's breath and grape-something-or-other all thrive. I tend to believe (unscientifically) that bubble algae spreads most when some other param is out of whack. It's easily something that we don't/can't test for, but I know I've battled it in other tanks. Maybe the diversity of macro is robbing it of nutrient or maybe I am preventing the build-up of whatever it likes, but in my tank; popping the 4 I have found did not spread it.

I was cleaning them off my Koralias the other day with a knife and they popped and sprayed me in the face. I freaked out a little...
