Chiller pump question

the heat is comming and i usually setup my chiller on a ranco with a mj1200 constantly flowing through the chiller. This year i was thinking of using a ehiem 1250 and hooking it to the chiller controller. so the flow would only go on when the tank needed chilling. do you think this would cause any build up or clogging in the chiller or would it cause hydrogen sulfide from the lack of constant flow?

I think you are safe as long as the detritus in the feed water is low. I keep an AWC container of used tank water on my pico for up to 6 weeks, it never smells of rotten eggs. It does smell a bit of dirty socks, but no different from fresh saltwater that sits for many weeks w/o a pump moving it.
