Cleaning Substrate

I've heard people say that they vacuum there substrate and siphon it through something fine to get out a lot of the crap. Can you tell me what you guys use to filter it through? Thanks

If you really wanted you could get a hose with a ball valve to control the syphon. And clip the exit of the hose to your sump (assuming you have a sump) and place a sock filter where the hose will drain into? While you clean your sand

You put a filter sock in your sump and run the end of the vacuum into it while using the gravel vac.

Only thing about having a basement sump that I miss.

Siphoning into the sump sock is a great way of doing it!
