Coraline slowly going away on class

Dammit not class, i ment glass lol


I've been noticing my coraline on my backglass going away. Was reading up on what it could be signs of so I tested.

Calc- 410
Alk- 5.9dkh
Mag- 1280


Gotta stop by my dads house to pick up my master test kit to check PH.

Wouldn't the Alk being that low cause issues?
 
your alk and calcium both are on lower side .. and alk i think is ultra low .. but again ill wait for the experts to chime in
 
Its been a week since my last water change. I tested alk twice. I thought that the mag was good.
 
Red Sea is good. Cal is good too. Anything over 400 is good. Ur alk is low. Low low. Ph is probably a little low too. I'm guessing user 7.9. Tell us what ur dosing and the schedule u dose. What coral donu have and tank size. More info more info. And did u change anything recently.
 
75g with 30g sump.

No dosing
No changes
Everything is growing and nothing looks bad. Except i just had issues with loosing zoas.


10g water change once a week

Mixed reef with mostly sps.
 
If u have mostly SPS, you are using up alot of Alk/cal/Mag. Try to make it a habit of testing atleast once a week. You should be testing more often until you know how much your stony corals are depleting your cal and alk and until you keep the numbers stable. You should be dosing cal and alk. The Magnesium, you might be fine with water changes, but keep a small bottle of it too.
 
I've seen 2 starfish in the past couple months havn't seen any others. I check at night and never see any when the lights are out. I have been seeing baby turbos all over the glass at night They are like the size of a pinhead but are getting bigger.

I'll check again tomorrow after my water change.

Is it weird all my coral are happy and showing growth?
 
Yes. They are growing because they are using up all the alk. Parameters are slowly changing, so they are aklimating to changing parameters. However, if your alk keeps dropping they will eventually be unable to calcify new skeletons and then you'll start seeing pH swings from very low alk, and then a tank crash.

yeah corelline is a good indicator of an issue possibly. I would just up your water changes, or look into dosing. The only issue i have is there isn't a whole lot in the tank, not like you are fully stocked with colonies, frags shouldn't really be drawing THAT much.
 
I personally use 2 part. Its easy for me with my auto dosers. Just bring alk up slowly, so u dont shock your corals. I would also verify the test kit. I personally have a hard time using the Red Sea Kits with Confusing color changes. I found that the API alk tester gives me a more comparable result when compared to my hanna alk tester.
I have Red sea, hanna, and API. I only like hanna and API for testing alk. I use Red Sea to test my phosphates and nitrates

Haha ur one of the few to say that. I changed it from the previous set-up and i'm much happier with it. Still not 100% happy with the right side. I've also taken probably 20lbs of rock out lol

Before i make any changes (and spend money) i'm gonna try to find someone else to verify my numbers. Im going to start reading into the BRS 2 part kit. Seems simple enough. Dont know if i'll get dosers or not though.
