corals and phosphates

I had my phosphates checked last night on my fowlr and they are about 2.50. I plan on transferring corals to it soon. Will corals tolerate that level of phosphates?

They will. Some corals more then others however. In some cases having no phosphate at all can stunt growth as well.

What type of coral are you planning to add?

No stony coral will tolerate levels that high. Soft corals would probably be fine. Phosphate hinders the calcification of new skeleton growth, so high levels and stoney corals will either be stunted or die. I had problems keeping euphyllia when phos reached 0.30.

getting an RODi unit from BRS this week. Going to work on bringing them down to 0 before transferring. A few water changes should take care of it.
