DIY 5 gallon bucket.

After looking at a stack of 5 gallon buckets taller then me I decided to use them in 2 different ways.
I am using one 2 of them to cure live rock and 2 soon to be 3 as my reservoir for my ATO. I was using a rubbermaid ruff-neck 30g tote for my reservoir but realized it was leaching phosphates and didn't want to buy another brute can for it. So I drilled to very small holes and connected them with 1/4 in ro hose. I drilled the hole one size under and forced them in and no leaks. I will be adding a 3rd bucket so my ato will be 18g. I would never run any thing bigger because my sump would over flow if some thing malfunctioned and ato still scare me.

Nice set up but i have a feeling that's a water mess waiting to happen. Silicone that hose just in case

could you have just acid washed the bucket? how much po4 was leaching out?
I was reading like .08 to .10 on 25g of top off water so I just figured I would use what I had laying around to make a new fresh water storage tank. The bin I was using was a rubbermaid ruff neck I will now only use brute containers.
