Does anyone use Fuel?

Ok i went to reefwise yesterday and picked up a few SPS and the guy had asked me if i use any additives for calcium or trace elements. I told him that i have been using Kents Nano Reef 2 part, and he looked at me like i was doing something wrong. lol So first he suggested using Purple up, then after talking for a few minutes he recomended using AquaVitro Fuel, said they use it everyday and it helps with a lot of different things, as well as having all the trace elements from the ocean. So i was just wondering if anyone uses this product and what they think of it. Also i have never had any issues with using the Nano Reef 2 part from Kents but would this be a better product? I know Kents has all the trace elements that i need but the guy just made me weary. Does anybody know anything bad about the kents?
Thanks Garrett

Was it the guy with black hair that says ultra about everything ? Or was it Brian the guy with the glasses? If it was Brian he knows what he's talking about and a great guy the other guy with the black hair reminds my of a used car salesman him and would be wary. Now with fuel I used it didn't really notice a difference if you are doing well with what you are using now why change it up keep doing what you are doing.

You know what there was 3 guys there it wasnt brian and it wasnt the guy with black hair it was a guy a different guy. They were all pretty nice guys but i feel like he was just trying to get me to buy everything. I mean when i told him i was there for some acros or montis he looked at me like i was a noob, and shouldnt get one. He told me that its all about what lights i have. Told him i have rapid leds and that theyll be fine he looked me with a confused look like hes never heard of rapid before. Idk i have very mixed feelings about this place. They did have some pretty nice stuff.

When dosing anything, I would be somewhat wary of dosing something I cannot readily measure. Water changes and some tweaks here and there, ideally at least, should be sufficient. If you got a funny feeling from him - then I'd say avoid his advice! Not that fuel, or anything of the additives don't work - but at the same time, do you truly need that? Just my 2c at least...

I'm almost through a bottle and i won't be buying another. I see no difference from when i didn't use it

The fact that he was trying to sell you that purple junk, makes me think he probably does his best to sell everything he can to a newbie. Shame on him!

I usually dose Fuel once a week or so. I can't really tell if it makes a difference or not. I definitely am dosing way below what the bottle recommends. It's full of aminos so it can't hurt.

Ya i agree but the thing that was frustrating was he was treating me like a noob when ive been in the hobby for years just new to the sps game. I knew he was trying to sell me whatever cuz purple up is crap. I have no problem with calcium i my tank so idk why he would recomend that.

Cause if he can sell just 1 bottle to a person who dose t know any better then they are up IMO that store has went down hill since they opened but that's just my 2 cents

That's an interesting observation. I was there a week or two ago and was extremely impressed with the hard/soft coral selection and fish setup. Reefwise is also the only store I know of where they actually put the fish through a lengthy quarantine process and care about their livestock. Can't say enough good things about Brian but I don't know the other guys.

Dosing 2-Part and consistent alkalinity maintenance will do more for you than a bottle of Purple Up. Don't waste money on it.

I dose my DIY 2 part daily and mag 2 times a week with fuel 1 to 2 times a week and my corals do great purple up is a waste only intended to speed up coraline

The only additive I use outside of BRS 2 Part + Mag is ECO Reef Solution. It has some trace minerals and vitamins, but it has garlic too which is great for my fish. Some of the vitamin/trace/amino additives I've seen are clear as water. Reef Solution is like Selcon, thick and full of bits you can see. The down side is that it's hard to find if you can't get it online.

rw doesnt even sell purple up, were u just talking to some random dude there? the only person who i would listen to advice on sps is brian.

Fwa ya they do becuase he picked it off the shelf and showed it to me. Look im not trying to rip ob RW, im just pointing out my opinion and thats all. They had great stock and brian was cool. I was just telling people the observation. And how i felt.

It might have been. It really doesnt matter. I just wanted to know about the fuel and if it was worth it. The purple tech or up thing just left a bad taste in my mouth when i was leaving. Its the same reason i stopped going to AA because you shouldnt talk down to your customers, its not necessary and just because you may know more about the hobby doesn't give you the right. Especially when were the ones paying you and keeping you in business.

I don't know about RW and their tactics on selling their stock, but we do use Fuel here at Reef City in our coral flat. Since we started using it we noticed better polyp extension especially in all NPS corals. About a minute after we dose, everything opens to feed, and that's when I get my chance to target feed the LPS... like acans and brains...

We have never had any issues with it like fouling the system with unnecessary nutrients.

Everything we carry we personally use. And if we don't use it and it's on the shelf, it's because a customer requested it.
