Dosing with Vodka and VC

I was wondering if someone can tell me the pros vs cons of dosing with vodka and vitamin c?
Do you dose with either or both of these?
What are the benefits and what are the dangers of it?
And lastly, what is the recommended dose per gallon ratio?

I would really appreciate some feedback on this.

I don't do either, but Pufferpunk is very well versed in vitamen c. She can probably send you some info on that.
 
I haven't done either, I was throwing vc pills with rose hips in the last tank, with no effect (was the wrong stuff anyways, lol)

If you are considering vodka, why not just set up a bio pellet reactor? It's the same thing, no dosing schedule to keep track of, no overdosing once it's established, and you only need to top off pellets every several months from consumption.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of biopellets, mainly becasue they don't require daily dosing.

Hmm. I will look into that option as well! Thanks for the tip. It would definitely be nice not to worry about a dosing schedule.
 
Different sources of carbon dosing boosts different bacteria strains. I would use one or the other at first. Give it it a couple of months, then 1/2 what ever your dosing & start lightly with the other. That's if you think you really need to dose more than one. I'm still happy with just the VC.

That is correct. The alcohol is the carbon source that the bacteria will consume. Vodka is used because it is cleaner than those nasty brown liquors. Dosage is usually in ml/gallon, so don't go pouring it in without precise measurements !!
