Emperor angel behavior

I've had my emperor for about 7 months. He is nearly an adult but has a few juvenile markings left. He has always been a big eater and very social. He swims right up to my face every time I approach the tank.

Today he is acting very shy and just lurking in a cave. He did not come out to eat. Nothing has changed in my tank and all of my fish are acting and eating normally. Corals look fine. I've not added any new fish since January. Does this happen with large angels from time to time due to personality? Will he snap out of it? Thoughts? This is really strange.

Most large angels do go thru a fasting period, most of the time its for a day or two. If he keeps it up for a couple days he just may have an internal disease or parasite. To be safe you could put him in qt with prazi-pro, if fish only tank you could treat main tank however I wouldnt. Also try soaking the food in garlic as that entices their appetite.

Thanks. This is what I was hoping to hear. He was out a little more this morning and ate a couple of spectrum pellets. Nothing like usually eats though. Is this a symptom of the adult/juvenile change?

This only lasted a few days. He has been fine ever since. A think most of my fish have had some weird periods. My Picasso trigger seemed blind for abou a week a few years ago. My Niger trigger was hiding and not eatin for a while. Do fish just get sick temporarily like humans?

Idk i had a pink tail trigger stopped eating and swimming for a month boy he got skinny. Then just got better started swimming and eating fattenes back up like nothing happened
