Just wanted to introduce myself.

I hail from Chicago's northside and have been in and out of the hobby for more than a decade. I got my first saltwater tank in the late 90s. It had fake coral inserts and an aMiracle sump (with built in air stone protein skimmer and bioballs!) I attempted my first 29 gallon reef around 2001, when power compacts were the hot new technology and BakPak skimmers were all the rage...

... and I was never very successful.

I rejoined the hobby about five years ago with a 92 gallon FOWLR tank. It was a beautiful tank, but once I graduated and started working, I didn't have the time to maintain it or the fish. So in March I downsized to a Solana 34, which is looking like the best decision of my fish career. I replaced the stock skimmer with the Hydor Nano Slim-Skim, added an MP10, and most recently hooked up a Tunze Osmolator. I'm still using the disco-ball MH lighting, but I'll probably switch to a Kessil a150 10k in the near future.

The goal for the Solana is a reef. For someone who's been in the hobby as long as me, I really don't know that much. So, I'm starting slow with some easier LPS and will make the leap to SPS when I've got more experience.

I've been registered on RC for a few years under a different name, but have been looking around for something more local. This seems like a good place, and I recognize a lot of the names. Looking forward to reading about your tanks and learning from all of you!
