Extend the life of your DI Resin - Degassing RO Water Works!

Running the first permeate (RO water) to drain after you start making water is a good idea to save the DI resin life. The first water that reaches the DI has relatively high TDS. This high TDS water typically only lasts for less than two minutes on the residential scale systems used in this hobby. Here's some data from two test runs with a Filmtec 75 gpd membrane:

Is there an automated way to do this? I have an auto flush valve and it works very well. Can something similar be put in line to prevent tds creep?

Just to confirm my belief in this degassing process. I borrowed the air pump I used to degas for my ATS. I burned through the rest of my DI Resin within 50 gallons.
I suggest trying this out if you are exhausting your resin too quickly and are at your wits end on why.

I guess it all depends...I live in Naperville. I mix around 80 gal. RODI a month. My DI resin last's about 10 months.
