Filter change

i wash my two filter socks usually once a week and wipe out with paper towel in sump skimmer once a week as well. take out skimmer every month for cleaning and pumps every few months for good cleaning and such
 
I change my filter floss on my media basket at least every week with my WC, but sometime I do it in between as well. I believe a lot of our bad nutrients come from decomposition on the filter media.
 
ChemiPure usually lasts 4-6 months. You could save a bunch of money just buying bulk gfo and carbon and a couple filter sock bags or just using the bag your ChemiPure is in now, and change that out monthly. You would need like 1/2 tbspn gfo and like 1 1/2 tbspn carbon for that little edge you have. Even small containers would last you a very long time.
 
Thanks for the tip! I'm still really new to this and it all looks like swahili to me so I will have to as my brother (rattyE36) about it!
