First Nem - Maxi Mini

Hey guys,

So I took the plunge and got a Anemone. I have been debating on getting a nem for a good time now, but always worried about it stinging other corals. I really wanted a BTA, then was thinking about a carpet, but decided both were out of my league and really had no place for them.

Sooo I decided to snatch up a Maxi Mini from Aqua Pros.. I acclimated him for about an hour and half, and then put him into the tank. He was very sticky. And my cleaner shrimp kept checking him and and getting his legs stuck to him. I turned the flow off and let him be. I placed him on the sand against the rock that I wanted him to attach to but he wasn't feeling it. I go upstairs come back hour later and he decided he liked the glass. So Now I have him stuck on the front of the glass. Kinda sucks because I cant see his mouth. Guys think I should try to remove him with from the glass and try the rock again. I would place him on top of the rock but I have a nice colony a Scrambled eggs and Sunny D's that I don't want to be stung.

Any tips on these nems would be appreciated

Heres some pics, I will take some later, wish I could see his body...

I know my bta liked the glass for a day or so but he moved around and found a new place. Maybe yours will do the same

another thing you can do is pull it off the glass, and then put lay it on a small rock with a lot of holes in it. It should like that and attach to it. Then move the rock wherever you want. From my experience, once their foot is somewhere secure, they rarely ever move.

Thanks Karl, I think I will try that. I will take a rock out of the sump and try placing him onto it in the DT. Should I just use a credit card and carefully slide it underneath the foot?

Yea a credit card would work. Just make sure the rock has some nice holes in it.

The key is the right rock that it can pull its whole body into if it wants but them stupid things out of the blue sometimes walk at night and pop out I where ever you least want them and always where you cant get to them easy . I have at least 12 of them . They are a great addition to the display if they pop out in a tolerable place therefore I haven't suffered enough.

Well got home from work and the nem was still put where he was this morning.. He was sprawled out and looked happy. I feed it some mysis it and ate it up real quick. Not sure if Im going to try to move him. Scared to damage his foot.

John would you like to sell any of your 12 maxi's??

Well I hear different from everyone.. Since I been researching it looks like there all over the place. I see people with them at the very top of tank and then some at the very bottom like mine. So far its been doing well, but I guess we will see.. Im ready for another one. Made some room just looking to find a nicer looking one.. pref red or blue.
