I saw Fish Tank Kings on Nat Geo Wild this weekend and have to say, it is much better than Tanked, imo. It's a more well rounded show with a marine bioligist on staff who actually quaratines! I just wish I had the channel in HD.

Highly recommended!
 
Its better, but way too much made up drama. At least they have a focus on livestock, but mostly fish. They finnally had an episode where the guy wanted a reef, and the project manager guy was trying to push the fake reef on him...lol
 
I for one actually prefer Tanked. The fake animosities of FTK is absolutely repulsive, whereas those of Tanked are mildly amusing. :)
 
Yeah this new show has people that are a little more knowledgeable

Tanked will survive kings wont. Nobody watches net geo for one. 2nd tanked is appealing to a broader range with a more watchable program. Tank kings was flat out boring. That said i like them both and both are dvr! Just dont get comfortable with fish tank kings it will be a 1 season wonder.
 
I love nat geo but I think it's true not alot of ppl have it. :-(

I don't think so FTK will be around a while.
 
I can't find it I have nat geo on dish network I did a search for it but can't find it anywhere. When is it supposed to be on as I would as least like to check it out. I found it online but it only has 3 min. clips.
 
I had to literally dig thru the on-demand system on my comcast xfinity to find it, nearly impossible to find, even search couldn't find it. And when I finally found it, it was SD format, looked like crap on the tv, the audio was subpar, and the show wasn't really that impressive. Tanked may take a lot of heat from critics, but it's entertaining. This show just seemed like a feeble attempt at capturing the fad. Like hardcore pawn is to pawn stars...
 
So the difference is FTK focuses on getting installs in with livestock (and fake corals mostly). While tanked focuses on installs and tank fabrication (less on livestock). that's pretty much the difference in the two shows.

Tanked has more humor with the two bafoons antics, while FTK has unintentional comedy with the "made up" drama.

the formula for FTK is pretty much, owner promises something where everyone says it cant be done, end the end, it gets done, every time. lol (of and throw in some fake drama between the fish guy and the design guy), holy crap these guys are bad actors.
 
I'm interested to see if FTK ends up being as terrible with their livestock as Tanked. Cause as of now, Tanked is on my boycott list....

hardcore pawn>pawn stars. tanked>ftk. fish tank kings has whiney customers, thats whats supposed to get you to watch. tanked has a "wacky" family. wouldnt watch either show if they didnt have fish tanks in them, but they do, so i watch them both
