frag tank lighting

I have a 20L that I will be setting up as a grow-out/frag tank. I mainly want to be able to keep chalice and acans in it to keep them safe and happy while i wait for a full upgrade from my NC. What will be the best/least expensive light I should consider? I am trying to go "all used" for this project, but I understand that the light might be better new. Any thoughts? I'm a little concerned about the 30" length, but since I don't really have to have full coverage I'm assuming it won't be an issue. Thanks in advance.

Now if you plan to have this tank up for a long time and be dedicated to frags. Invest an a LED fixture for the long run.

T5's or MH 150w should work and easy to find used IMO.

Thanks guys. I thought the responses might look like that. I know LED is the way of the future and I will most likely be keeping this set-up, but my stock JBJ NC28 LEDs have made me really gun shy. I probably just need something with a controller and a better color spectrum. (Prestige LED perhaps) I'm glad to see you sugested that for this application though. I am definitely attracted to the reduced temp and power consumption as well as the bulb replacement aspect. I just think JBJ too the shortcut in their stock light.

I have a few par38 led bulbs if you are interested. They are 27w (9 3w leds) bulbs with 90 degree optics. I have a 20L frag tank also, and I have two of the same bulbs hanging over it. They are just screwed into cheap ikea fixtures (hemma i think), and hung over the tank. I have primarily zoas and LPS in there, but also some birdsnest, stylophora, and montipora frags as well, and all do very well.

PM me if you are interested.

Stay tuned for a nice comparison on Tank of the month Markitekt's tank with my Led units. I will show Par readings with his near 1100watts of power .vs. 3 of my units and see how they compare :-)

OOOoooo this is going to be interesting, as he is not a fan of LEDs.
